Local Places for Nature

The main funding allocated to the LNP is currently the Welsh Government Local Places for Nature programme that includes funding to work towards the new 30 x 30 target. Local Places for Nature is a partnership project aiming to enhance nature on your doorstep. Activities include supporting the management of roadside verges for wildlife, planting trees, new hedges and orchards, restoration of urban meadows and creating new ponds. Restoration of habitat along Afon Lwyd river and its tributaries

Look into opportunities for installing eel ladders and fish passes to allow migration; tree planting and scrub along rivers and tributaries; tackling non-native invasive species such as Himalayan Balsam and Japanese Knotweed; increasing access and interpretation at suitable sites?

Restore habitat along the Mon and Brec canal in Torfaen

Improve connectivity between canal and river system - canal strategy

Identify more land to improve for wildlife

Sacrificial crops for overwintering birds and insects
